Classy Kitchen Renos and Piles of Brisket

Today on Emily and Allan’s Kitchen Tips: how to replace that unsightly dishwasher with a handsome rendition of a beloved 90s sitcom character:

kramerwasherI knew you’d come in handy someday, Kramer!

So yeah…our dishwasher bit the dust. No great tragedy, I guess. It was not the greatest. It dumped water all over the floor every time we opened it, which is not a desirable quality in a dishwasher. And now it’s dead forever. We’ve got a new dishwasher, but it’s late, and I would rather go to bed then install it at this point. So Kramer has been enlisted to keep the cat away from the wiring. This picture has been collecting dust in our closet for some time – some artwork from Allan’s single guy life, finally able to be out on display again.

Anyway.

Here’s what I made for dinner tonight:

Chipotle-Rubbed Paleo Slow Cooked BrisketThis was reeeeally yummy. I rubbed down a 3lb brisket with chipotle salt last night and threw it in the slow cooker with some halved onions. Then I took it out in the morning and threw it in the fridge, and after work tonight I cut it into smaller pieces and fried it up until it was browned and crispy on the edges. I served it with the onions, cauliflower mash (I actually pureed some of the onions into the mash as well), and sauteed green beans with sliced onions, garlic, and chili flakes. Sooooo good. And lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow 🙂
